Job Description
Overview
Platform of Greatness, or POG, is building the LinkedIn of sports: a centralized ecosystem where athletes, parents, coaches, teams, leagues, organizations, venues, camps, companies, and fans can connect, grow, and build opportunity across the sports community.
We are seeking a strategic, creative, and execution-driven Marketing Director to lead POG’s brand growth, community awareness, and user acquisition efforts. This role is not just about running ads or managing campaigns — it is about helping shape the voice, visibility, and movement behind a platform built to serve the sports world.
The ideal candidate understands digital marketing, storytelling, community growth, and brand trust. They can build campaigns that reach athletes, parents, coaches, sports organizations, marketplace sellers, and partners while staying aligned with POG’s mission: creating a safer, more connected, more opportunity-driven future for sports.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can think strategically, move quickly, test ideas, analyze results, and help build a brand that feels authentic to the sports community.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute POG’s marketing strategy across brand awareness, user acquisition, community engagement, partner growth, and revenue-supporting initiatives.
Lead campaigns that reach athletes, parents, coaches, teams, leagues, organizations, venues, camps, sports companies, advertisers, and marketplace sellers.
Build and manage multi-channel campaigns across social media, email, digital advertising, search, content, partnerships, community outreach, and event-based marketing.
Strengthen POG’s positioning as the LinkedIn of sports while clearly communicating the platform’s core value: networking, scheduling, stats, messaging, posting, forums, marketplace, camps, team tools, and athlete exposure.
Create compelling content that speaks to different audiences across the sports ecosystem, including youth sports families, athletes, coaches, organizations, camps, venues, brands, and advertisers.
Oversee social media strategy across platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube, with a focus on community growth and authentic engagement.
Support go-to-market campaigns for major platform features, including athlete profiles, team and league tools, forums, marketplace, camps, schedules, stat keeping, and parent safety features.
Collaborate with product, design, operations, partnerships, and leadership to ensure consistent messaging across the app, website, emails, social channels, and partner materials.
Use analytics tools to measure campaign performance, understand user behavior, evaluate conversion funnels, and improve marketing ROI.
Develop audience-specific messaging for athletes, parents, coaches, sports organizations, companies, advertisers, and investors.
Support advertiser-facing materials, including media kits, campaign packages, sponsorship opportunities, and brand partnership messaging.
Identify and build relationships with strategic partners across youth sports, amateur sports, professional sports, camps, training organizations, venues, and sports-adjacent companies.
Stay current on digital marketing trends, sports media trends, youth sports behavior, social platform changes, creator marketing, SEO, paid media, and emerging technology.
Help build a marketing culture that is creative, data-informed, mission-driven, and deeply connected to the sports community.
Qualifications
Proven experience leading marketing strategy, digital campaigns, brand growth, or community-driven marketing initiatives.
Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, including social media, paid advertising, email marketing, SEO, SEM, content marketing, and performance analytics.
Experience building campaigns for consumer platforms, marketplaces, sports brands, SaaS platforms, apps, media companies, communities, or high-growth startups is strongly preferred.
Ability to create clear, engaging, and audience-specific messaging for multiple user groups.
Strong copywriting and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn product features into compelling value propositions.
Experience with social media strategy, campaign planning, content calendars, audience growth, and engagement tracking.
Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, email marketing platforms, CRM tools, SEO tools, and marketing automation systems.
Comfort working with creative tools or creative teams, including design, video, photography, graphics, landing pages, and campaign assets.
Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate performance data, identify trends, test campaigns, and make informed decisions.
Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns, timelines, and priorities at once.
Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment where strategy, execution, testing, and iteration happen quickly.
A strong understanding of sports culture, youth sports, athlete development, coaching, team operations, or sports communities is a major plus.
Ideal Candidate
The right candidate is a builder. They are excited by the opportunity to help grow a platform from the ground up and shape how the sports community understands, trusts, and adopts POG.
They care about more than impressions and clicks. They understand that POG is building a community-first platform designed to help athletes gain exposure, coaches and organizations operate more efficiently, parents keep their children safer online, and the broader sports ecosystem become more connected.
They can lead strategy, but they are also willing to roll up their sleeves. They can write, test, analyze, coordinate, launch, and improve. They know how to create momentum.
Why Join POG
POG is building a centralized sports ecosystem designed for the future of athletics. The platform supports athlete profiles, team and league management, schedules, stats, messaging, forums, marketplace tools, camps, venue discovery, organization profiles, and more.
Our mission is to give the sports community one place to connect, operate, grow, and create opportunity — while keeping safety, trust, and community standards at the center of the platform.
As Marketing Director, you will play a key role in introducing POG to the world and helping build a brand that can become foundational to the future of sports.
If you are a strategic, creative, data-driven marketer who understands the power of community and wants to help build something meaningful for athletes, families, coaches, organizations, and sports companies, we would love to hear from you.
