Position Summary
Shelter Food Clothing Alliance (SFCA) is seeking a creative, passionate, and mission-driven Social Media and Digital Fundraising Content Intern to help expand our online presence, increase community engagement, and raise awareness of our programs and fundraising initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for college students or recent graduates seeking an entry-level position who want to gain hands-on nonprofit marketing experience while making a meaningful impact in the lives of those that are in need. While the position is remote, the preferred candidate will reside in the DC Metro area to create content at fundraising events in Northern Virginia.
Key Responsibilities
· Create and schedule engaging content for social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
· Develop graphics, short videos, and promotional materials that align with SFCA’s mission and brand.
· Assist in promoting fundraising events, volunteer opportunities, and community initiatives.
· Monitor social media accounts and respond to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
· Track engagement metrics and provide monthly performance reports.
· Research trends and recommend strategies to increase audience growth and donor engagement.
· Capture and share impact stories that highlight SFCA’s work in the community.
· Collaborate with leadership to ensure consistent messaging across all communications.
Qualifications
· Current college student or recent college graduate majoring in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively
· Be proficient in Microsoft Office, and display creativity.
· Familiarity with major social media platforms and content management tools.
· Basic graphic design experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar programs.
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
· Passion for community service and nonprofit work.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience creating short-form video content.
· Photography or videography skills.
· Knowledge of social media analytics and digital marketing strategies.
· Previous volunteer or nonprofit experience.
