Job Description
BRAND MARKETING MANAGER – SPEC OPS™
Goods iQ · North Kingstown, RI · Hybrid · Full-Time
$80,000 – $110,000 DOE Mon–Thu In-Office / Fri Remote
About Goods iQSome companies follow trends. We set them.
Goods iQ develops smart consumer products — and we need them showing up, standing out, and outselling the competition at every retail touchpoint. Our portfolio of iconic brands includes Bostitch® Office Products, PaperPro®, LockerMate®, PureOptics™ LED Lighting, and Spec Ops™ Tools. Behind every one of them is a team of makers, creators, and category disruptors who move fast, think big, and hold themselves to an uncomfortably high standard.
We run on honesty, collaboration, and a shared obsession with excellence. We celebrate the wins — loudly and often.
About Spec Ops™ ToolsNever forget those who serve us. Never fail those we serve.
Spec Ops™ Tools was born in 2018 from a conversation between two Army veterans — a former leader of a global tool company and a combat veteran paralyzed in an ambush in Afghanistan. His struggle to fund wheelchair ramps for his own home sparked a mission: use their industry experience to build better tools and give back to those who serve.
Today, Spec Ops makes hammers, chisels, tape measures, levels, work lights, and more — tough, failsafe tools forged from the world’s toughest materials and built to outperform in the most unforgiving conditions. With every purchase, 3% goes back to veteran and first responder causes. We uphold the standards of U.S. Special Operations Forces in all that we do, and our community of tradespeople, tool enthusiasts, veterans, and first responders is a true band of brothers and sisters.
The RoleStrategy meets execution. Own the brand. Drive the growth.
Goods iQ is looking for a Brand Marketing Manager to own Spec Ops™ Tools. You’ll help shape the brand’s annual marketing plan and own making it happen — building awareness, driving demand, and making sure Spec Ops shows up consistently and compellingly everywhere our customers shop, scroll, and work.
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role at the center of how Spec Ops goes to market. You’ll partner with channel marketing, eCommerce, digital marketing, product development, and creative teams to execute everything from new product launches and trade shows to social, UGC, paid social, brand and veteran foundation partnerships, and retail programs that drive sell-through.
We hire owners, not order-takers.
*We need someone who doesn’t wait to be told what to do. You see a gap, you close it. You spot an opportunity; you build the case and act on it. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to, and each other.*
Key ResponsibilitiesBrand Strategy and Annual Marketing Plan
– Help shape the annual Spec Ops™ marketing plan alongside senior leadership, then own its execution — translating brand goals into an integrated calendar of campaigns, launches, events, and programs built around key seasonal and retail selling moments
Trade Shows and Events
– Own trade show management and execution end-to-end — show calendar, registrations, booth design and build, shipping and logistics, product demos, collateral, and staffing
– Manage the trade show budget, tracking spend against plan and making smart tradeoffs to maximize return
– Partner with sales, product, and channel teams to set show objectives, showcase new products, and support customer meetings
– Travel to shows and events and be hands-on on site — helping set up and tear down booths, displays, and product demos
– Lead post-show follow-up and recaps — leads, learnings, and ROI — so every show delivers a consistent brand experience and a measurable return
Consumer Insights, Product Development and Launches
– Build a deep understanding of the Spec Ops consumer, competitive landscape, and category trends, and serve as the voice of the consumer with the product development team — influencing new product development and translating insights into product features and benefits
– Support the product team, which owns launch assets and creative briefs, by translating product briefs and technical specs into compelling, benefit-led unique selling propositions — shifting our consumer-facing assets from spec-heavy to marketing-friendly
– Build and execute go-to-market plans and content for new product launches — timing, consumer messaging, and channel-specific rollout
Social Media, UGC, Influencer and Paid Social
– Build and execute the brand’s social media and UGC strategy to grow an engaged community and a steady pipeline of authentic content
– Help manage ongoing UGC, influencer, and affiliate programs — from creator sourcing and briefing to content approvals and performance tracking
– Plan and oversee paid social campaigns in partnership with the digital marketing team — setting objectives, briefs, and KPIs, and optimizing toward awareness, engagement, and ROAS goals
Brand and Veteran Cause Partnerships
– Forge ongoing relationships with partner brands and execute partnerships that expand reach, credibility, and relevance with our core customers
– Spec Ops™ donates 3% to veteran and first responder causes — build and maintain ongoing relationships with our foundation partners: the Green Beret Foundation, Navy SEAL Foundation, and Gary Sinise Foundation
– Support special events for our foundation partners, and work with them to share frequent updates on our impact with consumers across social, email, website, and other brand channels
Brand Voice and Campaign Creative
– Serve as the brand steward, ensuring a consistent tone of voice, messaging, and look across every consumer touchpoint — PDPs, Amazon and retailer brand stores, website, email and SMS, social, and in-store
– Own and write creative briefs to the graphics and video teams for the campaigns you manage — social assets, brand store updates, email and SMS, trade shows, and foundation partnership content — and manage them through review and approval
Retail and Cross-Functional Support
– Partner with the eCommerce team on brand store and brand page updates, and with channel marketing on best-in-class digital assets and content for PDPs
– Work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager on email and SMS campaigns and ongoing website updates
– Support sales and channel marketing with retailer pitch decks and brand presentations, and develop custom retail marketing programs for key accounts to help drive sell-through
Performance & Analytics
– Track brand KPIs — awareness, engagement, social and community growth, paid social ROAS, launch performance, trade show ROI, and sell-through — and turn them into actionable insights and recommended adjustments to the plan
Skills and CompetenciesStrategic Thinking with Executional Horsepower
– Ability to build a brand marketing plan and then roll up your sleeves to execute it
– Strong commercial instincts — you understand how brand, content, and campaigns drive demand and sell-through
– Proven track record of building brands and driving measurable growth across retail/omnichannel and eCommerce
– A strong creative eye, the ability to give clear creative direction, and a talent for turning technical specs into benefits consumers care about
Data and Analytics Fluency
– Highly analytical with advanced data analysis skills leveraging Ai, Excel, and Power BI
– Experience with social, paid social, and analytics platforms (Meta, TikTok, or similar)
– Ability to turn complex data sets into clear, executive-ready narratives
Ownership Mindset
– Strong sense of accountability — you own outcomes, not just activities
– Comfortable leading cross-functional initiatives without direct authority
– Thrives in fast-moving environments where priorities shift and ambiguity is the norm
– Trusted to always go above and beyond to get the job done
Collaboration and Communication
– Skilled at building alignment across all functions
– Clear, confident communicator who keeps stakeholders informed and engaged
– Passion for building brands, understanding the consumer, and the tools and consumer goods category
Qualifications
– 5+ years of experience in brand marketing, product marketing, or integrated marketing, ideally in consumer products, tools, or hardware
– Hands-on experience executing social media, UGC, influencer, affiliate, and paid social programs
– Proven track record launching new products and driving brand and revenue growth
– Experience managing trade shows, events, and brand partnerships
– Experience working with creative teams (graphics, video) and writing effective creative briefs
– Advanced Excel, Ai, and data analysis skills; experience with BI and reporting tools
– Familiarity with PDP content, Amazon brand stores, and retail marketing programs; experience with Salsify, Salesforce CRM & Marketing Cloud a strong plus
– Ability to travel up to 15% domestically, primarily for trade shows and events
– Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and be hands-on with trade show booth setup and teardown
– Bachelor’s degree preferred
– Military experience a strong plus — we deeply respect the leadership and ownership it develops
