232 Creative

Social Media Coordinator

Pittsburgh, PA, USPosted 3 days ago

Job Description

We're 232 Creative. We've been doing this marketing and creative agency thing in Pittsburgh for almost 11 years now, and we're looking for someone to run point on social media for some of our clients. Disclaimer: Please don’t apply if you haven’t done this before. We only want serious candidates. It takes a lot of time to sift through resumes and candidates, so please, only serious inquiries.

Now then….Here's what that actually looks like day-to-day: building out social calendars, writing copy that people actually want to read (not just posting to post), teaming up with our graphic designers on custom graphics, shooting and editing reels (will involve travel), and getting it all live through Hootsuite/In-App (for now, that might change). Simple as that sounds, the bar is high. We want every one of our clients to have the most creative, most effective accounts. Not "pretty good for a small business." The best.

Social media doesn't sit still. Algorithms shift, trends come and go, and platforms redesign themselves every six months. You'll need to actually care about keeping up with that stuff, not just skim a trend report once a month, but genuinely be plugged into what's happening and think about how it applies to our clients. This is important and cannot be stressed enough. If you’re thinking you can just ask AI to create a social calendar and do your job for you, respectfully, please move on. We’re looking for someone who can dig into the client’s industry, audience, and brand, and use that insight to grow their audience and sell their products/services.

A quick word about us, because we know every agency says some version of this: we're not chasing awards or padding a bottom line (though, sure, awards are nice). We care about doing right by our clients and by each other. If you're looking for something to pad a resume or coast through, this isn't it. But if you want a team that actually likes working together, that genuinely wants to see clients win, and that'll invest in you growing (professionally and personally) we'd love to talk.

One more thing: a good chunk of our clients also run email marketing, so you might find yourself writing copy and working with our designers on weekly or monthly email campaigns (probably in Mailchimp), highlighting products, services, and promos with calls to action designed to actually increase sales.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE DOING

  • Building social calendars and campaigns that tie back to what our clients actually need, not just "post more content" for the sake of posting
  • Staying sharp on algorithm changes. This one matters a lot to us. Platforms shift constantly, and what worked six months ago might be actively hurting reach today. We need someone who treats this like part of the job, not an afterthought.
  • Keeping your ear to the ground on what's trending in social and bringing those ideas back to the team. We're talking "hey, check this out" energy.
  • Social listening to track and analyze online conversations about the brand, competitors, and industry to help grow our clients’ audiences.
  • Jumping into comments and DMs, replying to followers, answering questions, and keeping an eye on reviews. Basically, being a real, friendly presence instead of posting and vanishing.
  • Thinking about the bigger picture for each client's social presence and speaking up (kindly, but honestly) when something could be better
  • Making sure captions, graphics, reels, carousels, all of it, sound and feel like the brand it's representing
  • Getting hands-on with content creation. This isn't just a "nice to have," it's a big part of the role. You'll be shooting and editing reels, snapping photos on-site for clients, and putting together content that actually looks like it belongs on their feed. Having someone who can create real, native-feeling content (not just repost what clients hand us) is what separates the accounts that stand out from the ones that blend in, so this is something we genuinely lean on you for.
  • There will be some traveling, since we like to get photos/videos of our clients and their products/services for social media purposes, which I assume you understand, so going to them to get content is a must.
  • Building out content calendars/pillars that keep everyone on the same page
  • Possibly helping manage budgets for paid social campaigns, depending on the client
  • Using analytics to get a better sense of who we should be talking to
  • Digging into the data to see what's working, what's not, and why (the fun detective part of the job)
  • Writing post copy with a little intention behind it. Every post should be doing something, even if that something is just making someone smile
  • Potentially writing email/website copy for clients.
  • Monthly and Bi-Weekly meetings with clients

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • You're comfortable across Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Facebook, and Google. Not just "I have accounts," but you get why each one works a little differently
  • You can look at a pile of social data and explain what it actually means, in a way that makes sense to us and to clients who aren't staring at dashboards all day
  • You can write, like, really write. Copy that sounds like the brand it's for, not a template with the logo swapped out
  • You've got a decent handle on SEO and GEO (see above). If GEO is new to you, that's totally fine. We just want someone who's curious enough to dig in
  • You genuinely care about the people on the other side of the screen. You won't meet them face-to-face, but treating them well still matters to you
  • Editing skills for reels/stories with Edits, CapCut, etc

NICE TO HAVE (NOT DEALBREAKERS)

  • Professional video editing or animation experience (Premiere, After Effects, Da Vinci Resolve, Final Cut, etc)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Any experience with social or Google Ads platforms

THE BASICS

  • A bachelor's degree helps, especially in communications, marketing, PR, or something in that world, but honestly, we care more about what you can do than what's on paper
  • About 5+ years of real-world experience in this space
  • You're good at juggling a lot of moving pieces without losing track of any of them
  • You stay level-headed under pressure and manage your time well, even without someone checking in on you
  • You're genuinely comfortable with change. No two days, clients, or campaigns look the same around here, and that should sound fun to you, not exhausting

Salary is based on experience/skillset.
