Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
NextSense is a Google X spinout democratizing access to brain health through proprietary biosensing technology. NextSense recently launched Smartbuds, advanced neurotech disguised as a premium consumer earbud. Using EEG sensors and motion tracking, Smartbuds measure what your brain is doing in real time, then deliver precisely timed, brain-responsive audio to help users sleep, focus, and relax
We're hiring our first dedicated Growth Marketing Manager to lead paid acquisition. You'll shape how we find new customers as we head into our next phase of growth. You'll run our Meta and Google accounts day to day, decide where the next dollar goes, ship and read creative tests, and tell us plainly what's working and what isn't. Smartbuds are a direct-to-consumer product.
This is a hands-on role. We want someone with sharp strategic instincts who spends most of their week in the ad platforms.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Paid social (Meta). Account structure, audiences, bidding, budgets, and daily optimization across prospecting and retargeting.
- Paid search (Google). Brand search, Performance Max, and building out a disciplined non-brand search program from scratch.
- Creative testing. Turn product truths into ad angles, brief creative (in-house, agency, and UGC/creator partners), run structured tests, and kill losers fast.
- Budget and pacing. Forecast and pace spend against monthly plans; recommend reallocations with a clear rationale.
- Measurement. Own the numbers: CAC, ROAS/MER, contribution margin, and attribution across Triple Whale, Shopify, and platform data. Know where each source lies to you.
- Landing pages and funnel. Partner on landing page and Shopify funnel tests so paid traffic lands somewhere that converts.
- Reporting. A weekly readout that says what happened, why, and what you're changing next.
- Email performance. Own the numbers and logic behind our email program in Klaviyo: who gets what, when, and whether it’s working.
- Claims discipline. Ship ads that are compelling *and* accurate. Consumer neurotech lives or dies on trust, and we don't overclaim.
YOU HAVE...
- 3–6 years in performance or growth marketing at a D2C brand, with direct ownership of meaningful Meta and Google spend.
- Fluency in Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads, including PMax and search. You can explain your account structure choices, not just describe them.
- A testing habit. You've run creative and audience tests with clear hypotheses, and you can show us one that changed how you spent money.
- Comfort with messy attribution. You've worked with tools like Triple Whale or Northbeam, understand post-iOS 14 signal loss, and can triangulate between platform, pixel, and Shopify data.
- Ecommerce funnel literacy. Shopify, landing page tests, and how AOV, conversion rate, and returns flow back into CAC.
- Clear writing. You can explain a performance swing to a non-specialist in a paragraph.
- Ownership. You've worked with limited support and treat budget like it's your own money.
BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH..
- Consumer hardware. You've sold a physical product with a considered price point, longer consideration cycle, and real return-rate economics.
- Health and wellness. You've navigated platform ad policies and claims constraints in health, sleep, or wellness categories.
- Early-stage startup. You've been the first or only growth hire and built the playbook rather than inheriting it.
- Creator and UGC programs. You've sourced, briefed, or scaled creator-led ads.
- Lifecycle. Hands-on Klaviyo experience (or similar), especially building segments and flows.
- Curiosity about sleep, the brain, or neurotechnology.
